Can a BBW pilot and a sexy alien warrior find love in the midst of war?
Gamma Raiders continues with a second standalone novel packed with action, adventure, humor, and romance!

Edition includes a full-length bonus book Gamma Raiders The Space Pirate Prince

One curvy pilot ...
Kira Thorne knows it’s time to take life seriously -- and with the Rebellion against the Kamaran Empire in full swing, she’s eager to do her part. Kira’s an ace pilot ... but when she auditions for the elite Storm Squadron fighter unit and chokes at the crucial moment, it confirms all her worst insecurities.

She doesn’t think she’s good enough -- for the Squadron, or the impossibly hot Kamaran who leads it. When he makes her a member anyway, becoming her commanding officer, it’s time for Kira to conquer her fears … and face her desires.

One sexy warrior ...
Commander Ja’al leads the Storm Squadron. He knows the Rebellion needs Kira’s instincts and leadership skills -- but Ja’al sees her beauty, and has to fight the instinct to claim the spirited BBW for his own.

His role is to mentor her, not seduce her … but since Kira wants him just as badly, it’s not long before temptation proves too much for both of them.

And a life-or-death battle …
When the rebels’ location is betrayed and the Empire attacks, Ja’al finds a way to keep Kira out of the fight ... but she’s not about to let him risk himself alone.

With not only their lives, but the survival of the Rebellion at stake, Kira can’t let herself crack under the pressure -- she must find a way to summon the strength Ja’al knows she possesses. Can the lovers lead the Squadron to victory … or will their happy future be cut short by the Empire’s tyranny?

Gamma Raiders The Storm Squadron Alpha is a full-length, standalone sequel. The roller-coaster ride leads to an HEA and no cliffhangers!

I received an ARC for an honest review. First off, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It lost a star due to Kira's continued feelings of inadequacies. I like my heroines a little more sure of themselves. That being said, this is a rollicking good adventure. And come on, who doesn't get their blood pumping when the Rebellion is up against the much larger Evil Empire Hoard? I really appreciate Ms. Skye's skill with words and am enjoying this series. I know some people reiterate the whole synopsis of the book in their reviews, so not my thing. But I will say that Ja'el and Kira work well together, I like them. There are twists and turns in the story, some I saw coming some I didn't. But ultimately it is worth reading. I definitely recommend this book and look forward to the next one in the series. Enjoy!

Gamma Raiders Storm Squadron Alpha Scifi Alien Romance Novel eBook Calista Skye Reviews

This is a good quick read with will developed characters. Very enjoyable.

It's book two in the series, but I read it without any problem (other than wanting to go back afterward and find out the back story from the first book). Kira and Ja'al's story can stand alone. She is a mechanic/freighter pilot who now wants to join the storm squadron to help of the rebel cause... and it doesn't hurt that a certain attractive male (Ja'al) is the group's leader. She is unsure that she's up to the task and suffers from some inadequacy issues which Ja'al intends to work on. He is attracted to Kira as well and wants to keep her close. He also knows that she is far more capable than she realizes.

The situation takes a turn when the Empire locates their hideout and they must now defend or run away. Questions arise who betrayed them? will they make it out alive? and will they still have each other at the end of all this?

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Just in case I post spoilers please don't read on.

Now that I've got that out of the way, let me begin.

First, if you are a bit of a Star Wars fan then you just might like this book.
Second, if you like sci-fi fantasy romance then you just might like this book.
Third, if you like a bit of sci-fi action then you just might like this book.

So, I have to say that while reading it, I knew I would somewhat enjoy it. The action, learning of how to fight and take out the Empire was actually quite enjoyable. I loved the interactions with Ja'al, Kira, Reina, and Jom. It was quite good.

The reason for the three stars is that it was way too predictable in three areas. The whole romance side of it was just formulaic. Guy and girl must resist each other, but then they get together. Guy wants to protect girl from danger. Then girl ignores said attempt at protection. Yep. The other predictable element is who is the traitor it's quite obvious. I knew who it was going to be and that just ruined it. There needed to be a bit more twists into that development. I found that Kira's self-doubting was just a bit over the top, I felt like just saying buck up and grow some balls to her, but what can I do. Overall, a good solid read.

P.S. I did receive this as an ARC for an honest review.
Kira is a great pilot but suffers from crippling self-esteem issues. She was fine when it was just her and her friend on cargo ships but when they got taken aboard the rebellion ship and she starts her training for the squadron she starts to doubt herself. She keeps herself sane daydreaming about the gorgeous Ja'al. He is the best friend of her new boss (ex pirate and ex-prince Adaar). Can she keep her dreams in check or will real life begin to mirror fantasy?

Ja'al is the squadron group's leader. He is supposed to be unbiased and neutral but Kira is getting him hot and bothered. He knows she is capable of being a great pilot and leader and does what he can to bolster her spirits but he has the overwhelming need to keep her safe! But when the Empire finds the little rebel base care of a spy i their camp, can Kira make a deadly decision and save her team..at the expense of herself?

Ja'al is wonderfully conflicted as the alpha male in charge but frustrated mate wannabe of the lovely Kira. He can't understand why she doesn't trust in herself and her abilities more. Kira is so caring of her friends and team mates and she does not want to let them down and her doubts just mount up until she no longer trusts any of her decisions. But when it comes to Ja'al she knows that what they are doing may be frowned upon but it is the one thing she knows is right!

This totally appealed to the Star Wars nerd inside me! I want more!!!!
Overall Ms Skye's work is a decent read. She does a good job providing a thoughtout and planned storyline with only a couple minor weakenesses or flaws. Spelling or grammar or typo isn't perfect but rarely do I find one these days that doesn't have at least one issue.

Here is the issue, my third criteria for judging a book is overall enjoyment. The general storyline was okay to an extent, but I decided I don't like our h. In general some stories benefit from having an h or an H who is self-consciously weaker but usually they gain confidence in themselves much sooner and aren't so dang needy most of the way through the story. Nor did it fit with the character she was described as being and growing up as she did. Nor did it seem like she was willing or tried to improve herself no matter what people told her. The Kira of this book just seems much weaker than I expected after reading the previous book.

My review is for this book only, I would still be willing to read other stories by Ms Skye including ones in this series.
Had some Grammer problems ... were...was used several times instead of we're and words were left out completely. Lost me from reading until I felt like figuring out what they were trying to say within the story plot.
Kira Thorne is a ace pilot she applies for the elite Storm Squadron fighter Rebellion group against the Kamaran Empire but she freezes at a crucial moment making her believe she is not good enough for the Squadron. Commander Ja’al leads the Storm Squadron and brings her on as a member he believes she can make a difference! What happens when the Empire attacks ? Can they keep each other safe and get a happy ending? barwatts@telus.net
